We hear of some wise-acres, wagging their heads and intima ting there is favoritism shown or some "graft" in the matter of fur nishing the cement for the side walks now being laid in our town. We do not believe there is any favoritism o "graft" in the mat ter and we call upon the aforemen tioned wise ones to tell to the public what they know about it. The columns of the News are open to them free of charge to make any statement of facts in regard to this matter they may know. Yes, we go further and demand that they "put up or shut up." If any body knows of favoritism or "graft" it is his duty as a citizen to make it knows for by keeping the matter scret he is a party to the stealing by concealing facts the public ought to know. Some designing persons are per sistently saying that a bond issue of $100,000, for water, sewerage and streets will cause a tax that will be a burden heavy to be borne. Read the act authorizing the bond issue and you will see the tax cannot be over 50 cents on the $100 valuation of property and $1.50 on the poll. Should the ex treme limit therefore lie levied, it cannot be burdensome. We feel sorry for the citizen who claims to want his town to prosper and go ahead and at the same time is not willing to pay o small a tax fbr these necessities of modern life.
