A dispatch was received at the Navy QWiSlSSSJ Department Wednesday that the Tigress had arrived at St. John's, New Bruns- man of the several State Committees, and should be cut out for future refer- encc i Raleigh, N. The undersigned, in reply to inquiries made from different parts of tbe State as to what are the requisites in submit ting the constitutional amendments to the people will state : 1st. The Sheriff in every county in the State shall open the polls at the sev eral election precincts in his county on the first Thursday in August next, and the same shall be kept - open one day, from the hour of 8 A. M., until the hour ot 7 P. M., when every person qualified to vote according to the constitution may vote for or against each amend ment on a written or printed ticket. '-lad. The County Commissioners, or upon their failure, the inspectors of election shall provide for each election precinct eight ballot boxes, one for each amendment to be voted on. : Each of said boxes shall have at tached thereto a written or printed la-" George H. WHEREAS, the health of the city re quires the? abatement of all subjects calculated to produce disease : And whereas, the noxious odors arising from hog pens and styes are highly injurious to the health and comfort of inhabitants ot the thickly populated portion of the city ; therefore the Board ot Alderman do ordain : Section 1. That every person who shall keep any hog, pig, or swine of any sort In the limits of the city, within the space bounded on the North by Red Cross street ; on th.e East by Sixth street ; on the South by Cas tle street ; and on the West by the Hiver shall pay a nne of one dollar for each hog or pig, for each and every day the same shall be kept within the space aforesaid, after ten days notice from the City Marshal to remove the same. Section 2. Any ordinance or parts thereof conflicting with the above are hereby re pealed. The above ordinance was passed by the Board of Aldermen July 15th. 1873.
