The case of the people of Louisi ana against Anderson has not yet goue through all its legal phases, though Anderson has been sentenced-to hard labor for two years, and that result of the trial is not likely to be changed. Extreme views are taken of this case by partisans, and allegations are freely made that the verdict was not just, and that the crime was not proven, and &c. It does not seem to us desirable to enter into the consideration of such points. This man was tried in ac cordance with the law and found guilty by a regularly appointed jury. That is the record, and that is sufiicient. In regard to things done in Louisiaua it is pretty well established -that you cannot go be hind the returns, and Anderson is 'Memmed guilty. If he is not guilty then the jury is to blame,i but there is no help for Anderson i If id a. erra-xt ritr it inrnrii will nur. people: aui it mat sort ot language ; wasjun lo .varu iue uiuuui o.ai ates ; ttieu it cannot te uuiust towara auutr.-on now. ii. u tram.
