GOOD AUTHOBITT. I 1 Hon. W. H. Day, of Halifax, Hakes . -i a Yew Remarks. ?' : ( W. H. Day, usually known as Bill Day, of . Halifax, was seeni at the Southern today on his way to Raleigh. ,,;-.,;,-.- .;;:.' Speaking about Greensboro's growth, he remarked that be sel- 3 v " .LI. I ' uuiu came up vuih way mat ne aid not think of what a great thing the Keeley cure is. Let me tell you." he said in his inimitable way, I know a man in my section who has absolutely been made over again, if such a thing were possible. He spent ten days witn me some years ago. I bad known him most of my life -was at Chapel Bill with him. He ! was so cnanged when at my house on this occasion that I asked ! him what was the matter with him ;jthat he seemed to be in a somewhat bet ter shape than I had ever 'seen him, mentally' especially, and I could not account for it. He replied without any hesitation-I'm sober, a condition 'you. have never before seen me in. In fact I have been, until recently, drunk most of by life since I was six years old. I was drunk about all the time we were together at Chapel Hill.' This was certainly news to me and I got it all out of him. He had been to Keeley here in Greensboro and I want to tell you that while he was always bright and smart, that he is now a blamed sight smarter and sharper than I ever thought him to be. I have heard that the Keeley treatment I was thought to have some after-effect and it must be true, for this man is better mentally as well as nhvsi- cally and it was a treat to talk with . . . .... ' . -si mm during nis stay of ten days." This is strong testimony from a well known gentleman not given to idle taJlc. He spoke by the book and was in dead earnest. o ...
