of Mr. and Mrs. R.A. Stafford
of 11 Berkley Drive, Hampton,
who died August 28 when the
Army reconnaissance piane in
which he was Hying as a
technical observer crashed in
South Vietnam, were
conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday
in Centra! Baptist Church by
the Reverend G. Thornton
Hali. Buriai with military
honors were in Parkiawn
Memorial Parle.
Also surviving are a sister,
Romona Jean DeHart of
Hampton, and his matemai
grandmother, Mrs. Dessie
Kirkland of Bryson City, North
Carolina.

Leonard Lee Roper, 42,
died unexpectedly Friday
morning after an apparent
heart attack.
He was a veteran of Worid
Warn.
Surviving are hiswidown,
Mrs. Martha Wood Roper; a
son, Gary Roper of Gast&da; a
daughter, Mrs. Betty Sue Prost
of Dallas; his mother, Mrs.
Robert Roper of Whittier;
three brothers, Furman and
Cart, both of Whittier, and
Wayne Roper of Baitimore;
and two grandsons.
Services were heid at 10:30
am. Monday in Whittier
Church of God.
The Reverend Doyie Maney

illness.

Mrs. Earl Jones of Asheville;
and five grandchildren.

at 2:30 p.m. at Deep Creek
Baptist Church.

Welch, and Mrs. Ernest Herron,
all of Bryson City, and Mrs.
Gertrude Tipton of Ashevilie;
and a brother, W.G. Laney of
Bryson City.
Services were held at 3:30
p.m. Sunday in the chape! of
BHI Moody Funeral Home.

Freeman officiated. Burial was
in Swain Memoriai Park.
