The first number of this excellent pictorial monthly is on our table. Its table of contents is varied and enticing. The engravings-are handsomely execu ted. The life like portrait of Zebulon B. Vance is perfct. The cromos given as premiums are equal to the beat offered by Publishers North. This is a bold effort in N, 1 C. Journalism, and surely deserves the support of bur peo pie. A correspondent of the Norfolk Land mark, writing from Hattfeboro under date of Wednesday, says . ' "Jest as I am about to close this artid jTed the Md nteU gence of ' th brutaI murder of Mr. Cohn, a Jewish merchant, who has been for sometime doing business at Whitaker a Depot, a station about five miles north of here. He seems to have had a con siderable sum of money in his pocket, and it being known to a party of negroes, they attacked him in the dark last night, murdered him, and took the moucy and escaped. This as the third muder in my own knowledge at this place vtithin the last few years. Christmas Trees. On 'Chrbtmas night, the. M. On Monday the 28th of Dececber last - rTbe colored members of the order of Goojl Templars in this place, had quie a festive time, they marched through tne principal streets headed by the Louisburg colored band, theit regalia Was very pretty and their banners, Faith, Hope, and Charity, was goiten up very tastely, and made a beautiful and impressive seene.
