Thach spent Saturday night with his , cousin, Mr. Milton Dail near Hertford. v I George Green, a 'negro was up in Justice Court Monday morning upon the charge of stealing a cow. Mr. Munden of Wood ville "appeared, in the court and testified that the cow was his. The negro was convicted, of Ee charge and Judge Sawyer, sentenced him to the road for 12 months. The negro arrived in town last Friday driving the cow. He took the animal to Mr. Love's Market and tried to sell her. The negro's action created suspicion and the police ar rested him . He told several, different tales about the cow and how she came into his possession. He stated to the police that the cow was his fathers' and it developed that his father had DOW COW. The local boys will begin practicing next week under coach Whitehurst. While the local boys are not confi dent of winning, they think they will play the Edenton boys to a stand still. The high School team ' has been at a great disadvantage at prac ticing as they ordered a ball last week. It has beeu delayed in ship ment, but it will not take them long to cret in shape after the ball arrives The local team expects to carry a crowd of rooters from this place to cheer them on to victory.
