She has been appointed assistant to the matron in charge of the new immi gration station on Rngel Island, San Francisco Hundreds, of Chinese, men and wo men are detained at this station pending their admission into the TJ. S., and it was decided that a Chinese woman would be of great assistance to the matron. The occidental board of foreign' missions was asked to recommend some one and named Tye Leung. She is a Japanese woman at the head of the institution where the mothers of most of the babies are serving sen tences in prison.
