One of the most interesting events
to occure here in a long time will
be the races at the Albemarle Park
on July the 4th. There are many in
teresting features connect with the
races that can not fail to please the
spectators . v
The races will begin at two o'clock
and; the horse racing will be preceeded
by a motor cycle race in which J.
B. Anderson, the world's champion
motor cyclist will do some stunts
for the entertainment of the crowd ,
Tne horses and colts participating in
the races will come from Pasquotank
Camden, Currituck, Gates. Perquimans
Chowan and Hyde Counties.

A Pacing & Trotting. Purse $75 Mile heats best three out of five,
x B Tfotting Class. Purse $75 Mile heats, best three out of five.
C Race. Roadsters, either trotters or pacers. Purse $40. 00. Horses must
be owned and raised in the above counties with ao official record less
than three minutes. -v '
D Race. Two year old colts. Purse $25.00. Halt mile heats best three
out of five.
Motor Cycle Race by J. Boyd .Aaflerson and others.
Entrance Fee, five per cent of the purse, and! five per cent of the win
ings of the first money in all horse races.
Auto Race. Purse $10. OQ. Two or three must start. First $5.00, second
$3.00, third $2.00.
Tournament Riding, first prize martingal and bridle, or fine saddle.
Second prize, gold scarf pin.
There are several other attractions to be bad.
All horse races will be evenly, matched, and we guarantee them to be
driven to limit of speed. There will also be some fine horses driven ex
hibition heats. We want everybody to come. We assure ycu a pleasant
evening . ,
All races five to enter and three to start. All entries close June 30th.,
at night, at seven o'clock. Hopples n'o bar.
Money divided 50 25 15 10 per cent. No conditional eirtries received.
We reserve the right to change the order of program or to declare race
off, on account' of rain or any good reason. No colored drivers allowed.

Applicants for admission to the Ag
ricultural and "Mechanical College at
Raleigh will be examined by the
County Superintendent of Schools in
his office at Currituck court house on
Thursday, July 14th., at 10 o'clock.
By standing these examinations young
men may save the expense of a trip
to Raleigh. The A. & M. College of
fers 120 scholarships to bright, nee'dy
boys desiring industrial education.
There are courses of instruction in
Agriculture, Textile and Engineering
(Civil, Electrical. Mechanical. Chemi
cal and Mining.)

The Baraca Class of the First Meth
Odist church will run a big double
header excursion to Nags Head on
July the 7th.
The steamer Virginia and Guide of
the LeRoy Steamboat Company will
take the excursionists to this famous
resort. One of the steamers will
leave on the morning of July 7th at
6:00 o'clock and returning will leave
Nags Heads at 8:00 o'clock pm.
The other steamer will leave at 8
o'clock and returning will leave Nags
Head at 6:00 j'ciock pm.
Fare for round trip for the first
200 tickets sold is 50 cents, after
these tickets are sold others will be
$1.00.
