Let those who seek office ex ert, themselves to the utmost, let . them employ unlimited money if they are so inclined, let them re- sort to unscrupulous trickery if you will, we havea firm and abid ing'faith in the intelligence and integrity of our people which leads us to believe that not enough of them can beJuped byrfaud or corrupted byjnoney to secure the election of any man to office .Such do violence to the intelli genoe and worth of our people and places them on a level with hordes of ignorant foreign scum, corrupt and, purchasable, which infest some of our larger cities; but of which we are fortunately free Let this campaign be conducted on a, high plane without ne:dle88 crimination and recriination ; possible let harmony prevail ; if not. If corruption exists. denounce it boldly, fearlessly, re lentlessly; but "don't whet your olfactories to scent rottenness where there is insufficient dence of its existence.
