The resolution requiring that every one'who participated in this convention would abide by this action and use all the honest and legitimate means for the election of candidates nominated by this convention, was proposed and adopted without a dissenting vote. Tuesday afternoon about five o'clock Mr. Simeon Carlyle who has .been criti cally ill for several days past, passed quietly iato the great beyond. For seve ral yeara he has suffered slightly from a sore on his mouth, which during tbe past year has grown rapidly worse, and four weeks ago he waa taken to St Lukes Hospital for the purpose of haying it re moved. Although the physicians claimed that the cancer was completely gone, bis condition has been critical -since his re turn. Mr. Carlyle was 009 of the oldest residents of our town, heing-seventy-tour years of age. He is survived by bis wife and two children, Mrs. R P. Caldwell and Mr. W. W. Carlyle, both of this place. Mr. .Carlyle was a faithful member of the Baptist Church until the organization of the Gospel Tabernacle, about six years ago, since which time he has been a member there. The funeral services were con iucted at the TabewTWK Thursday morning at ten o'cloi k, by ftev. A. B.
