Rogers, of Fork, one f thq mot prominent mer chants of Fork, waa bamed early last Wednesday morning. The etore had been opened early by Mr. Roern, and a fire made in the chimney fireplace. It waa then closed and while Mr. Rogers had gone to breakfast, it was discov ered to be on fire, having caught on top of the building. It is not known whether the fire originated from a spark from the chimney, or from the smoke-stack of the engine of a nearby ginnery. How ever, when it was discovered too much headway nad been made for anything to be'saved, and the ef forts of those who gathered were devoted to saving the ginnery which was also in danger of beiDg consumed. There was $500.00 in surance on the store building, and $1,000.00 on the merchandise, which lacked about a thousand dollars of covering the losa Mar ion Star. The great reason wny a man should be always healthy and ao tive is beoause it is difficult for f man suffering from poor health to do his work at all, and also for ps) etiological reasons a man is much better able to meet and over come all objections raised against by his customers if he is full of vitality, both mentally and phys ically, than a man who is feeling seedy or run down, or is suffering from overstrain; for when a man is in this condition he cannot have the command over his subject that is vital to his obtaining the order for which he is seeking, says an exchange. A siokly man is gener ally self conscious, and he lacks the confidence and magnetism that go so tar .towards influencing men's minds in this direction. "Bessie begged to be allowed to (ry her way with the stains. The soarf was well soaped, rubbing the soap on the spots as thickly as possible, then put into a clean pan and about a half cupful of Kero sene poured on it. Enough cold water to cover the cloth was added and the pan put on the baok of the kitchen range to heat slowly. 'It may be necessary to repeat this process, but eventually the stain is removed.
