Mr. Woody Lennon a Host. Mr. Woody Lennon took both the honor and pleasure upon him self last Thursday evening to prove that he could be a host as debonair as a "Beau Brummell" or a "Lord Chesterfield," and the manner in which he enter tained his many friends on that occasion will long be remem bered in the; hearts of -thosewho one of most brilliant displays of wit and humor, and of much pleasure of the host and more to the delight of his friends. That which proved to be the events of the evening were the essays pertaining to the charac teristics of the young ladies written by the gentlemen. By the descriptions written of the ladies, the gentlemen were under the impression they were all au thors of renown and had won a place in the history of humor. But when the ladies took the pencil in hand and had com pleted their description of the descendants of Adam," tne word remorse could have easily been spelled in capital letters, upon the faces of all the gentle men present, and now we have it, as an undisputed fact, that the honors of "Mark Twain and Bill Nye" bad faded, forever. And it was decided without a vote, that the ladies had won a contebt that gentlemen had no business of competing in. in aacuuon, to aaa more fully to the evening's enjoyment, were the piano selections of Miss Gower, -assisted by Messrs. Ru dolph Carlyle and Lennon. At eleven o'clock a most dainty and bountiful repast was served, and when it came time for the guests to leave, it was found that the wee hours of the morn ing were rapidly approaching, so after bidding our host an early good morning and thanking him for the pleasant and delightful evening's pleasure, we departed, lighter hearts and of the impress ion of what a good host some men can be.
