Yesterday was a great day for Central Methodist Church The revival services which have been in progress lor toe past two weeks continue, as the interest ed yesterday and last night does not warrant a discontinuance, ijotn sermons yesterday were delivered by the Rev. Mr. Kir ton to large and appreciative con gregations. The church last night was filled to overflowing, necessitating the Sunday school room being consolidated with' the main auditorium of the church. Upon invitation, ten persons presented themselves for mem bership, and others will join. ! Much Interest was manifested yesterday for a new life ir Christ. A number came forward at both services and pledged themselves to the cause r.f Chris tianity. A good number will join this church and several will go to other churches. The Rev. D., left Mon day morning for Richmond Va to attend a meeting of the Board of trustees s of the Union Theo logical Seminary, 6f which Board he is a member. The election passed off very quietly here Monday and the smallest vote which was polled in several years was cast this time, only about two thirds of the reg iste red voters taking part in the same. The ticket nom inated last Friday night had no opposition The new Board met last night and proceeded to organize. Mr. J. W. Carter, who was elected Mayor, declined to qualify as he already holds the position o County Commissioner and Mr. R- M Williams, who ably served the town in that capacity the past year was elected by the Board in his steady Mr. J. W. Carter was a Lum berton visitor Monday where he went to attend a meeting of the Board of County Commissioners of which he is a chairman. The old Floyd home stead on R. F. D. No. 1, now the property of the South Eastern Lumber Co., was burned down last Saturday night in the absence of the ten ant, Mr. Bright liavis, who lost all his possessions. This old home once the scene of great gayety and happiness was built over a hundred years ago and was one of the few re maining very old houses in this section. Mr. J. V. Straughan returned ast week from a delightful trip to Kinston. Mrs. D. W. Galloway and Mrs. JV'P.
