ML FULLER LUMBERTON NO. CA. , April 1 8th Advertise In THEROBESONIAN. Aunt Becky Has Grippe Fruit Crop Destroyed, Gardens Late. Stand ol Cotton Very Good. Corresj oudence .of The Robonin. Some weeks have elapsed since my last communication 1 1 to vour paper, owing to uie sickness in our family. AVhile the Squire was suffering from an attack of acute indigestion and heart trouble, I was seized sud denly and severely by the mas ter Grippe, from which I have not vet recovered. There is little local news of interest transpiring here-abont; every body is very busy on the farms, and the young crops seem to be doing well. Good stands of cotton trenerallv. have been obtained, and the chopping season is in full blast We have had some cases, of sickness in the Pork recently, mostly among the children, ex cept Mrs. Walter Stubbsr who nas been an invalid tor many- months, and is quite sick at this writing- The fruit crop in this sec tion is totally destroyed, ex cept perhaps the grape crop, and a few late appeals, which will be a great deprivation to the country folks, gardens are backward, owing to the late seasons, and the poultry crop is not ready to harvest yet, so we we are having- rather a monoto ness bill of fare these days. The compliment which Gov. Glenn paid our county, and her people made my heart thr with patriotic pride; and it was indeed a well-merited tribute to the sobriety and good be naviour ot such an immense crowd. Several Veterans in this sec tion speak of g"oing to Rich mond reUnion; the Squire would like to there, as his old com rades in arms were all Virgin ians, and the survivors of his command will doubtless, many of them be present, but his weaklv condition debars him from that pleasure. The Turn out scho. !, ur.uvr the tutelage of Mr. A. B. Mercer, will close on Thursday p. m. the l'th Inst. A concert by the schoo will open at 7.30. Messrs. Norman and Dugald Stuart have gone to Asheville this week, on a visit to Mr Duncan Stuart, who has been at that place several months and will probably return with these two gentlemen, one of whom, nMr. (Norman) is his father. We had a couple of agents on the same day last week, one ot whom represented fruit-tree nursery, and the other, Mr. McClure was solicit- ng subscribers to' that splen did paper, "The Christian Ob server" published in Louis ville. This young man in- ormed me that he was meeting with much success, and hud up o that time secured upward f 500 names in Pavetteville Presb terv. Mr. John L. McLaurin, of Latta. S. C, eameup last uv. ! after his family, who had beer, with us lor two weeks p.tst; while here he and Mrs. Ol in stead, visited his brother-in-law, Mrs. W, H. Sutherland, ot Laurinburg, who is seriouslv ill. Mrs. Annie Whitlock went into the Rowland section Mon dav on a visit to her sister Mrs. Van Bullock. "Aunt Beckv" Arrange to Supply Fish. Mr- II. L. Godwin, represen tative for the Sixth Congress ional district, writes as follows: My dear Sir: I desire to advise you that I have arranged with the Bureau of Fisheries at Washington to furnish a supply of rish for tho ponds, lakes and streams of this congressional district. In order that a suitable selection of tish mav be made the bureau has prepared question blanks to be used by each applicant, fully describing the water to be stock ed. I will cheerfully furnish these blanks, on application, to any person desiring fish. Only one application for any particular body of water will be considered by the bureau. From ten to sixty days before hand the appli cant is advised of the .proposed date of shipment, and other essen tial particulars, and on the actual date of delivery, or the previous day, a telegram is sent designat ing the train on which the fish will arrive. Full instructions for the care of the tish en route from the railroads station to the point oi deposite s will be found upon one of the notices sent to the applicant in advauce of the pro posed shipment." As it is injudi cious to ship any fish by express it is necessary for applicant to meet them at a railroad station which can be conveniently reach d by the Bureau's distributing car, or messenger, and provide vessels for transporting them to the water to be stocked. The fish are delivered at the railroad station free of expense. Death of Mrs. Edmund. Mrs. Jane Edmund died at her home here Monday night, after an illness of some weeks.
