Delegates and visitors to the district conference will be met next Wednesday morning at Pembroke, the regular morninjr passenger train to Elrod going on to rem broke as a special by the kindness of A. C. L. man agers, through the influnce of Rev. C. W. Smith. This will make the journey much more pleasant than going by Lumber ton and Proctorville. Mrs. James Kelly, who lives in Bladen county, came over last Saturday to visit her mother, Mrs. Joseph Bullock, and other relatives near town. Mrs. Emma McNeill, of Lum berton, is the guest of relatives in town. Master Neill Thompson went to his home at Rowland last Sun day after spending two weeks with relatives. Kev. C. W. Smith went, to Fair Bluff Sunday afternoon to visit his friend Mr. Willis Jen kins, who is very ill. . . J. M. Ashley is the first to have on our maket home-raised cabbage. Owing to the extreme illness of the father of the groom, the marriage of Miss Hettie McMil lan and Mr. Meak Jenkins on Wednesday afternoon will be held auietlv at home, instead of in the church, as first planned. The young attendants are quite disappointed, but are sympathet ic with the young couple. Messrs. Gough & White, of Lumberton, were out on business last Monday. At the Democratic primary in Fayetteville Monday V. C. Bul lard, the present incumbent, was nominated for mayor over W. S. Cook by a majority of 0- votes.
