Gjrrespondence of The Robesonian. On last evening the senior class of the S. P. C. delightfully entertained the junior class, the young men of the town and neighboring towns at a recep tion. The spacious reception hall was softly lighted by shaded electric lights and numerous pumpkin heads. The parlors were beautifully decorated with plants and flowers and brilliantly light ed. The guests were received at the door by Miss Elizabeth Ba son, who conducted them to the front parlor. Here were Miss Mary Johnston, dean, and the junior faculty class officer, Miss Frantz: senior class officer, Miss collecting taxes in Maxton town- Margaret Robertson, president of ship. After several weeks' visit the junior class, and Miss Belle with relatives in Lumberton, Doub, senior president. The Miss Mattie W. OnThanksgiving day the home of Mr. Malcolm McLean, the ru ral mail carrier who lives near Lumber river about one and a half miles from town, was enter ed while all the family were home, by some one who cut a hole through the wire screen in one of the bed-room windows. The burglar ransack ed the house, evidently for mon ey, a no jewelry or other valu ables were taken. About two dollars in change was taken from a trunk. At a special meeting of the town cemmissioners Tuesday evening the office of taxcoUector was created and Mr A P Cald well was elected to this position at a salary of $50 a month. Mr. Caldwell will do all the town col lecting and will also assist in po lice service. This relieves Chief of Police F. J Floyd of the work of 'collecting and leaves him free to devote his time to all the work of the town, taking over, in ad dition to his work as chief, the supervision of the street work, formerly looked after by Mr. D.
