We beg to announce to the people of Robeson County the installing of a Savings Department in which deposits of any amount may be made and a bank book issued. ft SAFETY. SECURITY This department is under the immediate supervision of United States Government examiners. The only Bank in Robeson County operating under a United States Government Charter. A charter has been issued for the Jackson Railroad Co. for the construction of a railroad 18 miles long from Sylvia, on the Murphy branch of the Southern Ry to Tackaseigee, Jackson c unty. The State Board of Education, in session in Raleigh Saturday, made financial arrangements for paying the State's part of the expense of the survey for the pr( p sed drainage of the Matta mus'tceet Lake district in Hyde county for reclaiming that vast acreage of lands believed to be of great value for agricultural purposes, once it is properly drained. The work of the drain age is to be pushed to the speed lest possible completion, the sur vey Deing now wen under way under order of court in the dram age district proceedings. Dr. Eben Alexander, dean of the University of North Carolina, died suddenly Friday in Knox- ville, Tenn., where he was visit ing his son. He became profes sor of Greek at the University in 1886. In 1893 he was appointed minister to Greece and returned o the university in 1897.
