Let all the officials of the charge take notice and be on hand. Brethren, be sure to come, as we will have important business to look after. Remember that our fifth quarter ly meeting, as it is called, will be held at Barker's on the second Sunday in November at the week end with relatives and friends here. Mr. and Mrs. Grady Harrell and little son spent Saturday and Sundav here with relatives. Mrs. M. A. Currie, who has been visiting her daughters Mrs. Arch Cobb and Mrs. John Ray, returned home Tuesday. We are sorry to report Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Conoly on the sick list and wish for them a speedy recovery. We wish to extend our sincere sympathies to the families of Mr. Hiram Hall, Mr. S. E. Martin and Mr. Daniel McLeod in their bereavement. Several of Shannon's citizens attended the State fair at Raleigh last week and report a nice time. We hear of some goool corn crops hereabouts this year. Mr. H. L. McGoogan has corn that is estimated to make over 83 bushels per acre. Mr. P. McN. Gibson has a field of ten acres and expects to gather 650 or 700 bushels from it; and others are expecting 50 bushels to the acre. One of our neighbors discov ered the red spider on his cot ton last July or the first of Aug ust and used Paris green on the cotton just where the effected cotton joined the healthv cotton and stopped the spread of the insects. I hoDe that this will be of some benefit to those who are bothered with the red spider or cotton louse. We have a cold morning; pota to vines are looking sick. HOPE MILLS NEWS.
