THE SEMI-WEEKLY ROBESONIAN. i 1 i T.I 1 .1 1 in i.'ti iv,r. 4J til 3 i t si! .J : i A . THE ROBESONIAN TDBUSHED MONDAYS AND THURSDAY BY ROKESOMAN PUBLISHING CO. J. A. SIIARPE - - President. SUBSCRIPTION RATES: The Year fl-50 3ix Months .... .75 Three Months - - - - AO THURSDAY. DECEMBER 29, 1910. We have received a post-card from Mr. M. L. John of Laurin burg showing an elegant con crete bridge on North Main street, Laurinburg, this being one of 15 concrete bridges in Scotland county. The above in formation is given on the pic ture side of the card, and on the reverse Mr. John adds the fol lowing significant note: "Stew artsville township issued bonds for roads and all these 15 bridges are in Stewartsville township." So. It is always the township or county that is progressive enough to vote bonds for roads that looks and is pros perous. Do you who oppose a bond issue for roads know of an instance, by the way, in which a county or township has regretted Minor Court Cases Christmas Drunks and Other Offenders. The following cases have been disposed of in Mayor Rowland's court since the last issue of The Robesonian: Hector McNeil), colored, for whom papers were issued two or three weeks ago for being drunk and disorderly, taxed 2.50 and costs; W. H Shooter, drunk and disorderly, $10 and costs; Jim Milligar, drunk, b2.o0 and costs. Jno. Edwards, drunk and re sisting officers, was arrested and locked up Saturday night by Chief Redfern and Policeman Strange and was turned out Sun day to appear before the mayor Monday, but he has not been seen since. ' j E. C. McNeill and R. E. Sen telle submitted and paid $2.50 each for an affray Friday eve ning at the court house. The dif ficulty grew out of what McNeill considered unjustifiable activity on the part of Sentelle in the political campaign last fall. The lie and a blow were passed and then friends interferred, and neither was hurt. Henry Stephens, a Bladen county negro, was tried yester day before Justice Eli Phillips on the charge of assault with a knife and was remanded to jail, where he was placed Tuesday night by Deputy Sheriff T. C. Barnes, who arrested hii, in de fault of bond in the sum of $100. It wyas in evidence that at Sandy school at Bladenboro for several months. Dr. Norman is well known here, having spent two or three years here in the drug business before finishing his course in medicine, and he has a host of friends that wish for him and the lady of his choice a long and happy life. Immediately after the ceremony they excect to leave for a tour of several Northern cities and will be away for about two weeks, after which they will be at home at Bladenboro. At the Methodist church Christmas Day the pastor, Rev. E. M. Hoyle, preached a strong sermon on missions and a collec tion was taken which resulted in pledges of $213 for that cause. An "every member" canvass will be made and it is expected that the contributions from the congregation will amount to much more than the amount given above. vio -p. wori v?
