The very fact that the tariff agitation and deb?.te has been in progress for several months has caused so little disturbance to bus- iness is positive evidence that no real unfavorable results will folbw the enactment of the Democratic meas ures. "The cotton mills are do;ng very well and the prospects in that line for the coming season are good. Ihe only actual depression in some lines of business, such, as lumbrr, has been due to high rates and scarcity cf fi'.nds for investment purposes. The new currency bill as approved by the administration as finally recommend. ed, ought to be acceptable to all legi timate interests. It would be diffi cult to conceive a more acceptable measure than this new currency bHl, taking into consideration the difficul ties to be met in reforming the pres ent abominable system. The 1 serious defect in the bill is failure to pro vide a more adequate means of lend ing money to the farmers for per manent improvement of farm pro perty. This can and perhaps should be passed later on. "The action of the Secretary of the Treasury in using the resources of his Department in the interest of the agricultural classes of the South and West is one of the greatest benefits ever conferred upon these classes. "Speaking of national politics, there is another thing worthy of our consideration just now. Heretofore the National Democratic Committee has ceased active work at the close of each election. This year it has been decided by the party leaders to carry nr. active organization and publ.xity wt-rk, without cessation and to ths cntf the National Committee mai'i. tains headquarters in Washington and wll not only keep up an organization throughout the country, but will keex before the people in a true light the vork of the party. In order to ds this r.crk properly, it will be necessary i raise some funds by volui-tary sub s.-nption. A certan amoivt has been aportioned to each State on the basis of the electoral vote. I have been an pointed by the National Committee to take charge of this work in North Carolina and later on we will call on those who are interested in Democra tic success to aid in the work. "Cured" Mrs. Jay McGee, of Steph enville, Texas, writes: ' For nine (9) years. I suffered with womanly trouble. 1 had ter rible headaches, and pains in my back, etc. It seemed as if I would die, I suffered so. At last, I decided to try Cardui. the woman's tonic, and it helped me right away. The full treatment not only helped me, but it cured me."
