Smith's Bridge, Dec. 1 The peo ple generally are about through har vesting for this season; cotton pick ing is about a thing of the past. Hunting is nearly a dead note the swamp this season as the squir rels are only one in a place and they are too far apart. A new entertainment is on the go round in the community by the young people which they call "cotton pick ing." Possom hunting seems to be good sport this season as some of the boys catch as many as six or eight in one night. The weather for the last two weeks has been fine for gathering. I would like for some one to ex plain how we are to get our roads worked. They are very badly in need. Bridges are in bad shape. If we ask the question why the roads are not worked the reply comes quick, "We haven't any money and our township is badly in debt." We think that a few more changes in the road law will put the whole shootingmatch on star vation and then. Rev. A. J. Groves fiUe his regular appointment at Smith's church yesterday at 11 a. m. Mr. C. F. Mitchell and Miss Lizzie Hamilton, teachers of the public school of this district, spent Saturday in Lumberton on business, Miss Ham ilton remaining over to attend the Robeson Union Sunday. Messrs. Grover Britt, G. W. Mercer and N.C. Lone of Lumberton were visitors in the community. Thanksgiving. We are sorry to hear that Mr. Jas. G. Smith of this community is talking of moving to Lumberton. From the looks of the place and the number of blocks, we guess that Messrs. White & Gough are getting ready to build another tenant house on the Smith farm. CORTRIGHT METAL SHIN GLE ROOFING. Advertisments of the Cortright Metal Roofing Company have appear ed in The Robesonian regularly since early this year, and any one inter ested in high grade, substantial roof ing should get in touch with the com pany's local agents, the McAllister Hardware Co. Cortright Metal Shingles have been in use for more than a quarter of a century and are said to be giving splendid satisfaction everywhere.
