Eats Freely But
A little Pepsin in a Mild Laxative
Promptly Corrected a Bad Indiges
tion. Fortunate is the one who can eat
anything without suffering the tor
tures of dyspepsia, but as few are so
fortunate, care should be taken in the
matter of diet. Eating slowly, masti
cating the food thoroughly and tak
ing a short walk after the heavy meal
of the day will do much towards as
sisting digestion. Any grown-up per
son ought to know the peculiar food3
that do not agree, and these should
be avoided.
When these common-sense aids fail,
the next thing to do is to take a mild
digestive tonic with laxative proper
ties that there is none , better than
Dr. Caldwell's Syrup Pepsin. It con
tains the greatest of all &ids to diges
tion, good pepsin. It has other ingre
dients that act mildly on the bowels,
'which together form combination
for the relief of dyspepsia or indiges
tion that is unsurpassed.
Its action is to tone and strengthen
the stomach and bowel muscles so
that they can again do their work na
turally without outside aid,, and when
that happy moment comes all medi
cine can be dispensed with. It is the
best remedy obtainable for any dis
order of the stomach, liver and bow
els for dyspepsia, constipation, bil
iousness, headaches, drowsiness after
eating, gas on the stomach, etc.
Thousands of users will testify to
this, among them Mr. J. W. Gouch-

er, Stites, Idaho, who for several
years liad the worst symptoms of
chronic dyspepsia. Since taking Dr.
Caldwell's Syrup Pepsin these have
all gone, and although Mr. Goucher
says he is 64, he does not look more
than 40.
Syrup Pepsin is sure in its results,
and a vast improvement over chewing
or swallowing tablets and mints, or
taking cathartics, salts, etc., all of
which are harsh and nauseous and at
best do but temporary good. You
can obtain Syrup Pepsin at any drug
store for fity cents or one dollar a bot
tle. Results are always guaranteed
or money will be refunded.
Families wishing to try a free sam
ite bottle can obtain it postpaid by

UNVEIL MOUMENT JUNE 10.
Memorial to Confederate Women
Given by Col. Ashley Home Date
53d Anniversary Battle Big BetheL
The Ilorne Monument Committee
which has been , making preparation
for the . unveiling of the monument
given by Colonel Ashley Horne to the
State as a memorial to the Confed
erate women, has named June 10,
1914, as the data of the exercises.
The date is the fifty-third anniver
sary of the Battle of Big Bethel, the
first great engagement of the war be
tween the two sections of the coun
try. In that battle fell Henry Law
son Wyatt, June 10, 1861. A monu
ment to young Wyatt, one of the fin
est on the Capitol Square, was erected
two years ago.
In this great fight, Col. D. II. Hill,
afterward General Hill, was in com
mand. Of the twelve hundred sol
diers in that engagement eight hun
dred were North Carolinians. Dr. D.
H. Hill, president of A. & M. Col
lege, a son of General Hill, has been
asked to deliver the address and has
consented, as have all others, who
have been asked to take part in the
exercises.
Colonel Long will present the monu
ment and Governor Craig will accept
it. Rev. E. A. Osborne, late Colonel
of the Fourth North Carolina regi
ment, will make the invocation, and
Rev. Dr. R. II. March, chaplain of the
26th North Carolina, will give the
benediction. Prof. Henry Jerome
Stockard will read the poem.
Invite Veterans.
The committee issued a cordial in
vitation to the Confederate soldiers of
North Carolina to attend thesce exer
cises. The United" Daughters of the
Confederacy werealso invited in the
same way, and the hope is to have
as many of both patriotic organiza
tions as possible.
The committee issued these invita
tions of its own initiative and did not
make request that city organizations
invite the veterans to meet in Raleigh
this year. But individuals in Raleigh
will take this matter up. It has been
some years since the soldiers came
here, and the event, which is to be
celebrated June 10th, is one that ad
dresses an appeal to all North Carolinians.
Colds, constipation and headache
are three common afflictions and re
lieving the constipation helps the cold
and stops the headache. Use Foley
Cathartic Tablets because they are
prompt and thoroughly cleansing,
with absolutely no unpleasant effects.
A whole bottle full for 25 cents. All
dealers.
ust Send The Best.
Salisbury Post.
The Post said the other day that
there is a likelihood of Governor Jar
vis being inthe next Assembly and
the .suggestion brought, forth expres
sions of delight from other papers,
notably The Charlotte , Observer and
The Greensboro News, each asserting,
that the next Assembly, by all means
should be made up of good strong
men, and our suggestion that every
county send its beat men will be eeh
oed from one boundary of the State
to the other. A machinery bill will
be passed this year that will be of
perhaps more importance than any of
recent years. We are voting on a
constitutional amendment that revises
our entire system of taxation and the
law to put this section into action will
be of wide significance and everey
community owes it to the State to
send its best men of brain and ex
perience in such affairs.
A stubborn, annoying, depressing
cough hangs on, racks tjie body, weak
ens lungs, and often leads to serious
results. The first dose of Dr. King's
New Discovery gives relief. Henry D.
Sanders, of Cavendish, Vt., was
threatened with consumption after
having pneumonia. He writes: 'Dr.
King's New Discovery ought to be in
every family; it is certainly the best
of all medicines for coughs, colds or
lung trouble. "Good for children's
coughs. Mony back if not satisfied.
Price 50c and $1.00. At all druggists.
