Got. Craig Appoints Mea to Represent
North Carolina at Panama Expos!
tion.
Raleigh News and Observer.
North Carolina's official commis
sion, which is to represent the State
at the Panama-Pacific exposition in
San Francisco next year, was ap
pointed yesterday by Governor Craig.
The members are General Julian S
Carr, of Durham; Stuart W. Cramer,
of Charlotte; C. E. Hutchinson, of
Charlotte; John C. Drewry, of Ra
leigh; Hugh McRae of Wilmington; C
A. Holderness, of Tar bo ro; and T. D.
Brown, of Salisbury, and J. aVn Lind
ley of Greensboro
The question of providing money
for the State's representation . was
raised at the 1913 General Asembly
but it was not acted upon. Governor
Craig has named a list of men who
have means and will bear their ex
penses to the exposition, but there has
been no appropriation for the State's
show at the exposition. Free space is
given and two thirds of the States
have made reservations in which to
make their exhibits.
Speaking of the coming exposition,
Governor Craig said today:
"The exposition at San Francisco
celebrates the dpening of the Panama
Canal. This is ah event signilcant in
the destiny of the South. North Caro
lina should not lose this opportunity
to exhibit to the people of the world
her resources and possibilities. It
is the beginning of an era of devel
opment, and North Carolina ought to
reap her share of the benefits. Vir.
ginia has contributed $40,000, Tennes
see has raised $37,000. Arkansas
$75,000. Other Southern States will
probably provide for exhibition in
the near future.

Mr. J. W. Currie a Hustler Where
Was the Mistake?
Fayetteville Observer
Mr. J. W. Currie has accepted the
position of manager at Lumberton of
the Jefferson Standard Life Insurance
Company, and leaves Fayetteville to
take up his abode in our sister town.
The Robesonian of recent date stated
that Mr. Currie will at once move
his family to Lumberton, but "he told
us today that this was an error. He
did not state in what way it was an
error, but simply- said that The Robe
sonian was mistaken. Perhaps he
wishes to leave his boys in the graded
school here until the end of the term.
Mf. Currie has been a resident of
Fayetteville for fifteen years, and
has made many friends, who will re.
gret to see him leave and who wish
nim a large measure of success. He
is a tip-top life insurance man, and
wherever he lands business and hustle
are sure to follow.

mending it to others." By, 25 and 60
