Crowed So Hard He Busted His Gall.
Mr. B. N. Parish, who lives in Wish
art's township, was among the visi
tors in town Friday. Mr. xarish
says a fine rooster, which he would
not have sold for any reasonable price
died in a rather peculiar manner one
day recently. He said the rooster
was enjoying the best of health ap
parently, and was out in the yard
crowing, having crowed twice, and
when he tried to crow the third time
he fell dead. Mr. Parish, through cu
riosity, operated on the rooster and
found that his gall had burst. Mr.
Parish thinks it was caused by loud
crowing.

VIEWS OF THE CANDIDATES.
How the Candidates Stand On Reso
lutions Adopted at Mass Meeting in
Lumberton July 18.
To the Editor of The Robesonian:
As to the resolutions, I want to
say:
I favor heartily any measure that
offers relief to the taxpayers.
I am willing, if the people desire
to abolish the treasurer's office.
I do not favor abolishing the rural
police but think some better control
should be had of them and perhaps
let them take the place of deputies.
I am not a judge of what are ade.
quate salaries, butthink some of them
higher than is necessary.
I am opposed to lobbyists and so
declared myself in last campaign.
I believe we ought to inquire into
the commission government, but time
to adopt this is at a distant day.
I favor the repeal of- the labo.r
clause in the road law and opposed ii
in Raleigh.
I am in favor of a legalized pri
mary.
