From there he leaves for Austin, Texas, where he will again take up his work as pastor of the Highland Presbyterian church. Miss Luella Sanderlin of Councils is visit ing relatives in town. Rev. Mr. Sher wood, pastor of the Baptist church is away on a vacation. Mss Dell Dew resumed from Chapel Hill Wednes. day, where she had been attending the summer school. Mr. and Mrs. Don McLeod and lietle son, Earl, of Waycross, Ga., are visiting at the home of Mr. and Mrs. James A. Mc- NeilLMiss Maggie Covington; re turned to her home at Rockingham .last Wednesday evening after a pleas ant visit to Miss Mamie McNeill. Mr. Charles Murphy of Parkton was a guest of Mr. James A. Singleton Sunday.- Miss Altie Marsh leaves for Mt. Vernon Springs Thursday, where she will spend some time. Miss Bes sie Gibson has returned home after a pleasant visit to relavies in Bennetts ville and Gibson. Miss Katie Breeden of Bennettsville, S. C, is visiting at the home of her aunt Mrs. J. L. Mc Millan. Misses Ellen and Winnie Coxe left for Montreat Friday, where, they will spend the month of August. Mr. and Mrs. Ben Covington of Florence, S. C, are visiting at the home of Mr. B. W. Misses Marie and Joe Coxe and Master Dougald Coxe returned from Montreat last Wednesday where they spent several weeks. Mrs. W. M. Roberts, who under went a serious operation at Dr. Rake, straw's hospital, Savannah, Ga., some weeks ago, returned home Tuesday. We are glad to learn that she is much improved in health. Mr. Hector Currie, who had 'been undergoing treatment at Cumberland hospital,- Fayetteville, for several weeks past has returned home. His friends wish for him a speedy recov ery of health. Miss Margaret Williams is visiting relatives in Lumberton. Mr. W. ;P. Covington's contest for the best name for his new store to be opened here in September, closed last week. Mrs. II. B. Gibson, who suggested the winning title, "Coving ton's" will receive the prize a $15 pat tern hat. SLEEPING CAR SERVICE. BETWEEN CHARLOTTE AND ASHEVILLE.
