B: Pearsall spent the week- mobile loads of Lumberton people will go on the trip. A number of business men of the town met at the court house Thurs day evening and appointed commit tees to work out plans and put things in shape for the tour. The following committees were appointed: Routes K. M. Biggs and A. E. White. Advertising R. D. Caldwell and E. L. Whaley. Soliciting and co-operation of bus iness and professional men of the town M. J. Merritt, L. I. Grantham and F. , Grover Britt. The commit tees are at work making ready for the trip, and indications are that it -will be a grand success, The automobiles will be covered with banners, upon whilch Will be painted catchy booster advertisements of the town. Messrs. M. J. Merritt and E. L. Whaley will paint the ad vertising on the banners. Every Lumberton business and pro fessional man who possibly can do so is urged to eo along with an au tomobile. A number of citizens al ready have agreed to furnish an au tomobile and go dn the trip. If the; committee fails to see you, take your auto and go with the crowd. A bug lar will furnish the noise, and a will 'supplement this $800 by $500 01 $600, giving $1,300 or $1,400 to pay salary and expenses of a home demon-, stration agent. As has heen stated in The Robesonian, Lum berton will have two Warehouses this season and everything is being put in readiness for handling a large amount of tobacco here during the season. Messrs. T. J. Noblin and E. 0. (Bil- Iv) Bransford will have charge of "the old warehouse, the name of which has been changed from the Farmers to the Star warehouse and Mr. C. A. D. Eakes will manage the new Ban ner warehouse. The managers of the two warehouses are spending much time among the tobacco growers of the county and all indications are that Lumberton will have one of the livest markets in this entire section. All the leading tobacco qompanies will have buyers on the market here. Army Draft Exemption Boards Or" ganized Members of Robeson's two army draft beards met in the court house here today and organized. Mr. T. L. Board No. 2 was. organized with Mr. A. R. McEachem of St Paul as chairman and execu tive officer, Maj. G. B. Sellers of Maxton clerk, and Dr. B. F. McMil lan of Red Springs examining phys-i-.ian. The boards have received instruc tions telling them of their duties and will proceed at once to number the registration cards and send the num ber3 of those liable to draft to Pro- yost General E. H. Crowder at Wash ington. The names of those drawn by the authorities at Washington will be returned to the chairmen of the boaids and those who have been drafted will be notified by the board to report and if any have excuses to render as to why they should not serve in the arny the board will then pass on tnem. oany Company Made Good impression on Lumberton People Many Robeson ians Joined Company While Here The members of Co. A, N. C. en gineers, which company had made Lumberton headquarters since April 8, last, left Friday morning for Golds boro, where they will mobilize with the Second North Carolina regiment. The company left , at 8:45 on a special train of 11 cars over the Vir ginia & Carolina Southern. While here the soldiers did patrol duty at the bridges on the' Seaboard railroad. Capt. Geo. W. Gillett said before leaving that he and his men had been treated with more hospitality in Lumberton than at any place they had ever camped. He asked The Robesonian to say that he and his men wished to thank the people of Lumberton for their many tokens of kindness to them while here, which he declared would never be forgotten. The people ofLumberton were verv favorably impressed with Capt. Tyner of Wishart town ship brought a leaf of tobacco to The Robesonian office Friday which meas ured 33 inches. Mr. Tyner says h& has six acres of tobacco that is "hard to beat". Walker rode up to the station in an auto just about the time the V. & C. S. passenger train was ready to pull out and jumped out of the car hurriedly in order to catch the' train. H. Lowrey, Indian, who lives near Red Banks, was among the call ers at The Robesonian office this morning. He says the farmers in his section raise several thousand bushels of wheat this year. Most all the farmers, he says, raised enough wheat to make their flour.
