John WilMns Not Held on Charg of Harboring Deserters, Jbn Wilkins f Wishart township. who was arrested last week en the charge of harboring deserters from the U. S. army, was given a hearing hefer U. S. Cmaiissioner W. H. Kin law Saturvlay. There was not suffic ient evidence to convict Wukins ana he was released. Wilkins was charg ed with harboring W. S. Canady, who was arrested last week on the charg of deserting the army, and W. W. uhams, who made his escape. Superior Court A week's term of Superior court for the trial of criminal cases convened this mornibg at 10:30 with Judg W. M. Boml of Edenton presiding. Mr. Sandy McMillan was chosen foreman of the grand jury and Mr. H. A. MV White officer. Judge Bond's chargn tothe jury was of a patriotic nature and was listened to with interest by a large number of people. Solicitor S. B.
