Dr. McDaniel at Meeting Which Closed at First Baptist Church Last Week. In our rounds we have recently vis ited the farm of our ex-insurance agent, J. W. Currie, formerly dis-) trict manager of the Jefferson Stand- ard, located at Lumberton, and who How a Christian May Know He is a enjoyed tne distinction lor several! Christian years of being one of her livest wires and most successful agents. A year or two ago he began farming as a side line and made good. About a year ago he obeyed the call back home, "down on the farm." He is operating about a ten-horse farm, lo cated about one mile from Red Springs. He has cotton, corn, peas, castor beans (for Uncle Sam), and has recently harvested a bumper crop of wheat and oats. He has hogs ga lore and then some. He uses improved machinery. He has a bunch of good mules, which he, by combining with Indian muscle, is finding profitable. Currie this year has the best cot ton (no exceptions) we've seen. His corn is above the average and we feel quite sure ye editor will get a 4th of July melon from his patch. (Here's hoping. Editor). He has acres planted in sweet potatoes and will do his bit to help his Uncle Sam. We didn't know he could do it but Our visit convinced us that J. Warren Currie is not only an expert at in- "These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God." 1st John 5th chapter and 13th verse. Dr. McDaniel preached from this text Wednesday evening. Because God Says So. Declaring that a Christian may sometimes have doubts as to his con version, Dr. McDaniel told how a inu' an upright life before men. Put ouc and put on Christ and tne world will not doubt you. Sinners wili read you when they will not read the Bible. You must furnish the fruit that will satisfy the unsaved that you are a Christian. If a sinner can see in you the marks of religion he will not doubt you. You can convince the sinner by giving up sin and pursuing righteousness. Do you love Christ and do you love lost soults ? asked the oreacher. Be Faithful Unto Death. '"Be thou faithful unto death and I will give thee a crown of Life" Rev elations 2:10 was the text from which Dr. McDaniel preached Thursday morning. i give unto thee eternal life. The free gift from the Lord is eternal life through Jesus Christ. If you are faithful unto death he will give you the crown of life. Young people ought to be put in activity in the churches W hen God appeared to Abraham to lead his country he had faith in God and the first step he went out as tied had commanded because he had the faith and God had told him tha he would show him the way. He had the faith to take the step of trust, faith in the promise that God would show him the way. He believed the prem ise of God even when contrary to the laws of nature. God told him to take Ms son and sacrifice him. He had the faith to start "to the task even though it pained him very much. When God saw that he had the faith and Abra ham was about to slay his son, the Lord stopped him. Thus Abraham be comes the father of faith. We get in line with Abraham if we get in the faith of Abraham. According to your faith, be it unto you Be thou faithful in the life of mor als. The devil could ruin every Chris tian in this town.
