C It is a good thing that perpetrat ing an illegible signature is not a hanging criitnt this country -would be depopulated. Wherefore it is well necessary, in fact in writing a business letter to have one's name either printed or typewritten on the sheet. Otherwise the one who under takes to answer the letter may make a wrong guess in addressing his let ter. Some days ago ..the secretary of the Lumberton Chamber of Com merce received a letter from a Ral eigh man inquiring about this town as a location for an ice cream fac-l tory. The letter was answered oour-! teously and promptly, giving the in-, formation requested and assuring the J inquirer that any further informa-' tion he might want in . enabling him 1 to decide would be gladly given. But alas, the secretary guessed wrong as to the signature, an the letter came back to him, and the inquirer thinks, no doubt, that the Lumberton Cham ber of Commerce is careless about answering such inquiries. O : Touching on and appertaining to an advertisement on the first page of the last issue of this paper, it is "Raleigh News and Observer, Char lotte Observer, New York World," cried a newsboy in a hotel in a dis tant city. Master John Robert Boyd of Lumberton was among the guests at the hotel. "I don't care for any of those," he gaid. bracing the newsie; "Have you got a Robesonian, that's the paper I read." Smart boy.
