Orders limiting deliveries of coal in the southern region of the railroad administration to the first five classes on the fuel priority-list, which does not include manufacturers, were is sued Monday at headquarters at At lanta, (Ja. These supplies generally are under stood 'to be scanty. Curtailment of coal consumption was made necessary, the statement said, because "coal production is still below the absolute requirements of the first five classes of consumers." These classes, who are still to get coal, are railroads, inland and coast wise vessels, army and navy and cer tain government department, state. municipal and county institutions, public utilities, including newspapers and retailers to supply domestic con sumers. No announcement was made as to whether the sharp curtailment of coal consumption would be nation wide, but it has been understood that about tne same conditions prevail in otner sections of the country. Mr. McLean is now a mem ber of the War Finance Corporation. and it is said that he has madp an excellent record and stands well with the administration. Mr. McLean, who is one of the leading lawyers of the Cape Fear sec tion and a banker of prominence, has a strong fol owinsr in North Caro lina, and his appointment would be hailed with general approval in this part of the country. He is of the sturdy Scotch stock, who have a nat ural talent for finance and thP han dling of money, and whose patriot ism has always been a bulwark to tneir government. NEW COTTON MILL CHARTERED FOR ST. PAULS. Ernaldson Cotton Mills company, of St. Pauls, Robeson county, with an authorized capital of $300,000, and a subscribed capital of $150,000 has been granted a charter by the secre tary of State.
