C FALSE TAX FIGURES PUBLISHED BY DIVISIONISTS. It is astounding that any respon sible men would publish such mislead ing tax figures as d'visfonist leaders lure published. Giving the tax rates lor general county purposes of some other counties, they give the rate for the same purposes for Robeson coun ty g 47 1-3 cents. Elsewhere in this isnvc. The Rooe eonian gives the correct tax rate for Eofctson, whith is 19 cents. Any tax-payer can verify this statement by referring to his tax receipt. More over, we are publishing affidavits of Register of Deeds M. W. Floyd, who s clerk to the board of county com missioners, and County Auditor J. M. MeCallum, to the correctness of this figure. Floundering still further in the mire divisionists state that since it might be claimed that there was some spe cial reason for this levy, they would give'" the average for 'the' past nine years, nd .theyrput Robeson's aver age at .2803; .Cumberland's .2037; Hoke's, 7 years, .2053; Lee's 9 years,! .2077; Moore's. 9 years, .1938; Rich-' mood's 9 years, .1770. Here are indisputable facts, taken from the records of the county com missioners: Robeson's levy for general county purposes in 1910 and 1911, was .20; 1912 and 1913, .18; 1914 to 1917, .19; 1918, .18; 1919, .19; making an average for the past ten years of 18 9-10 cents, lower than any of the counties given by the div'sionists as examples with the sinjrle exception of Richmond, assuming that the oth er figures given by the divisienists are correct. There can be no argument about this. The record speaks for ielf. What arc the people to think of such an attempt to deceive them? Iti ptaprjrers comment. This statement of division leaders be'ng so utterly without foundation, so. palpably mis leading, how-can other statements and flaims of the division leaders be ac cepted ? The fates have decreed that Robe son erunty s not to be carved up in to small ccunt'es, and some of the division leaders, in desperate efforts to bolster up a lost 'cause and beat down the ground)swell that is on against division, seem to have lost their heads. Surely they would not deliberately try to mislead the people with uch false figures.
