BARNES. ONE OF PAGE'S . MANAGERS IN ROBESON COUNTY IS NOW FOR GARDNER AND GIVES HIS REASONS. To the Editor of The Robe, aonian: During the recent campaign for Governor I was a very ac tive supporter of Hon. Robert N. Page. Since his elimina tion from the contest it has been circulated that I signed an agreement to deliver the Page vote to Hon. O. Max Gardner in the second primary. I have not signed any agree ment to leliver the Page vote no power s vote ex- desire to say, however, that personally I shall vote for Hon. O. Max Gardner, and give, him my sup port. It is my opinion that he combines very much more ful- , ly those qualities that are es sential to the making of a great, useful governor of al lthe peo ple than does Mr. Morrison. He has been Lieutenant Gov ernor for the past three years, and his experience in this of fice, as well as hig previous ex perience as senator, has given him wide training and expe rience for the duties of the of fice of governor. For these, reasons, and perhaps a great many others that I might men tion, it is my opinion that of the two men now running for governor, Mr. Gardner is by far the best fitted for the of fice. I repeat that I have no disposition to dictate to other Page men what they should do, but as for me, I shall take very great pleasure in giving Mr. Gardner my. vote and my support. ' ..
