This season, .as all other seasons, carries with it its peculiarities in the line of hard problems to meet. Last season's cotton was picked at $1.50 per hundred, which was a lo3s to the producer. In former years when cot ton was 8 and 10c we picked the cot ton for 50c per hundred. Indications point that this is about as much as we are going to get for this year's crop of cotton and we consider 50c a fair price for picking cotton and $3.50 for ginning, bagging and ties is as much as we should have to pay thig year. We strongly advise our brother planters to harvest their cotton as early as is practicable and have samelft ginned at once as our observation vithe ptist ha; Lean t'nt ov.r por'e Q have lost considerable money by de-1 A I ferrinir action in this matter. This has i V -been a very disappointing -season for a number ot tobacco planters, but st'll quite a number of them have reali zed fine prices where they had good grades of tobacco. We think our planters should continue to plant a reasonable amount of tobacco and strive to make the better grade. And for the coming yecfr we would advise our planters to get the very best variety of seed a.nd have better plant beds and, be able to transplant arlier than in the past, as the early plants have been the most successful for the past three years. We planters should do more think ing and planning to be able to combat the boll weevil pest that seems 'to be coming to us. We ask that our brother planters exchange views with the planters through these columns and thereby give each other ths bene fit of their experience. PLANTER. Warning! Main Circus. . During the history of the Walter L. Main Shows they have been noted for putting on the most intensely realistic racing in its Hippodrome contest's that were ever witnessed un der canvas, put on in a manner that distinguishes them from the farces of racing seen with other shows. Among the races put on are: flat races, running races, man against horse, hurdle races, elephant, came and pony races. Also the ever exciting chariot races. By means of cash prizes to the lady and gentleman winning the most )f the races during the week, the show has caused a real rivalry to ex ist between the - contestants, and though the racing is good natured, yet it is always for blood and testing the nerve and ingenuity of the riders and the speed of the horses to the entire satisfaction of. the spectators. 'Oh, come, let us go before the racing begins." is a remark frequently heard xt circuses, but the knowing - ones lever make sucl a suggestion when attending the exhibition of the Walter L.
