Material for Sunday School Room—Prayermeeting Sun day Nighus—Farmers Busy—Per By David Erastus Lovett. Lomberton, R. 4, April 24.—Far mers around here are very busy now. Setting tobacco and planting cotton seems to be the order of the day, al though we hear of some planting corn the third time. Part of the material for the much needed Sunday school rooms here has been assembled. The writer has not learned just when the work will be Sin, An appointment was given out re cently for the Rev. D. C. Barnes to preach here Sunday was a week ago, hut for some cause, Mr. Barnes did not fill his appointment. On account of the burying over at Willoughbys cemetery no Sunday school was held here Sunday. I have recently learned that the Rev. F. A. Prevatte will preach here at an early date, tho’ just when I have forgotten. Will announce later. Mr. Prevatte is one of our oldest preachers and his many friends will he delighted to have him come over and preach. Some little mistake was made in a recent writing of Smyrna items, being abovt the marriage of Miss Janie Britt and Mr. Ambrose Hays. Miss Britt resided in Proctorville in stead of Broad Ridge and Mr. Hays is one of Hog Swamp’s prosperous young farmers. Misses Lizzie Mae and Gladys Britt of Long Branch, attended the burying near here Sunday p. m., coming over in Miss Gladys Ford. Miss Pearl Lovette spent Saturday night and Sunday near Tabernacle. Mr. and Mrs. K. B. Lamb and Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Lamb were visi tors in the home of Mrs. Dollie Thompson Sunday. Mr. Charlie Williamson has recent ly purchased a nice young horse for saddleling. * Let everybody remember that prayer meeting is held here every Sunday night beginning at 7:30. Come out and enjoy the good talks. All good wishes to the many read ers of The Robesonian. CALCIUM NEEDED FOR STOCK f>t«. Horoas and 8heap Must Look to Roughage for Naadad Supply —Sliaga May Anatoar. My appetite was extremely poor and when I did go to the table thinking I could enjoy a little something,, the very sight of food nauseated me. The little sleep I got didn’t seem to help me and I woke up mornings feeling as tired as when I went to bed. “But I soon realized I had found the right treatment in Tanlac and now I have a good appetite, am gain ing weight and feeling as well as I ever did. My nerves have steadied down, too, and I am sleeping soundly every night. Tanlac is the best of them all.” Tanlac is for sale by all good drug gists. Accept no substitute. ANOTHER VERSION OF THE BASEBALL ROW AT ROWLAND. - ~ - • • - To the Editor of The Robesonian: In The Robesonian of Tuesday we see a headline which would lead the public to understand that the Row land—Lumberton baseball game broke up in a general all-round fight and that our citizens generally were participants. To correct any erronious imprs sion I will state tha tthe fighting was confined to the umpire, W. H. Mc Cormick, and Coach Haltiwanger. The parts our citizens took were pre venting others of either side mixing in—for example, a five-year-old ne phew, and the brother of the umpire and pulling the umpire off the coach when it appeared that the coach had the wind choked out of him. The ruling made by the umpire was at once questioned by several of our own citizens and when he saw it was against a rule he corrected 'it, stat ing at the same time that he was not up-to-date on the rules and would gladly correct any decision where a rule was violated. When the others left the diamond Coach Haltiwanger : started, then turned back and quest ioned a decision hade during their time at bat, seemingly with a view of getting up a row. He succeeded. | The boys of the teams took no part in the hostilities, and had these boys seen fit to finish the game, they would have received the same fair treatment we have always giv |en them. We like these boys, they j are good sports, and we believe they like us. I see from this article that Coach Haltiwanger will not let them play here. Our boys will be glad to play them here, on neutral ground, or at Lumberton—but only on condition that Coach Haltiwanger be kept blocked and in the back yard till over his soreness, and has come j to realize how much he owes those [humane citizens who, in their zeal ! against cruelty to animals, pulled the “ump” off him before said “ump” l loosened up his strangle hold and be gan making over his manly features by the old and new rules.
