MHr it* hhpp%tif to be a link between two of the greatest na tion^ -in the world—EttfUand and the United States. No other person than the present King of England is the donor of this stone. It was given through the Stewart society to beu"ed as a foundation stone for a very uni que sort of chape! to be erected on the campus of the- college, to be known as Stewart chapel. The gift was made at, the behest of the duke of Athaii, after he had been requested to take the matter up with the King hy Cameron of Lochiel, who visited Fiora Macdonald. coliege on October IB. 1923 and sooke to the Scottish socie ty of America. The granite for a time was in dis play in a window of the Wannamnker store in Philadelohia—a beautiful chiselled stone from Balmoral castle in Scotland, an indirect gift of George V. Upon the stone is carved the royal coat of arms and opposite is that of the Stewart ciass. Beneath i inscribed: "This tablet of granite from Bal moral whs gifted by Mis Majesty King Edward V to the Stewart Socie ty for presentation to the Flora Mac donaid college, in memory of a Scot tish heroine, as another link between Britain and America. 1745-1925."
