Mir* Matilda Wand, high school
1eachcr, who was sick last week for
severe! day*, returned to her work
Wednesday. She suffered a slight et
lack of influenza and had to rest up
at the teatherage for severs) day*.
Margaret French was the only g r!
fan from the high school to take in
the N. C. State Cottage tournament at
Raleigh. She was a big asset to the
team and was eontinuatty cheering
the boys on to victory. W hen the
final whistle of the Roanoke Rapids
game blew and L. H. S. had won,
Margaret came near kitting Mr. Cheek,
who was sitting near her. She liter
nHy pounded hoies in his hack, lie—
said aftm^waMts. '
Mr. Crumpton started to Raleigh
Saturday afternoon to take, in the
last game of the tournament at State
College. However, his friend who had
an out-of-date Ford, wasn't figuring
on a wheel fatting off, so when that
happened Mr. Crumpton decided to
stay at home. He said Sunday night
that he hated to have to miss the
Roanoke Rapids game and that next
year he woutd nuke arrangements
somehow to get there.
Cameron McLean, as usuai, got to
the Raleigh tournament via the "hook
a-ride" route. "Cam" has onty missed
one game since football, started last
faH. He enjoyed staying at State Cot
tege and got ptenty to eat and a
place to lay his weary head at night..
He came back with Mr. Lay in "Cin
derella", the famous Chalmers tar of
Mr. Crumpton.
