For tbe several items, forming th re- ceptinn and expenditure r-bove mentioned, the Public Treasurer reipetlfuliy refera to the printed statements, prepared and furnished by the Comptroller for the use of the Membert of the pretcnt Gcner.l rAssembly. Tbe State Bank declared dividends in the monthaof December and' June .list, at the rate of four percent- which, on the aharet held in it by North Carolina, amounted to twenty-one thousand, three hundred and seventy-six dollars ; which were patted to the credit of the State, and are, of courte,'included in the amount of the rrcrry at the Public Treasury; firat'abovementioned. And it is likewise known, that the money emitted by this State, In the years 1783 and 1 785, and from time to time redeemed by this Bank, and handed over to be burnt jnd destroyed, aa directed by its charter, s alto chargeable to this fund, or the .S!y!l. declared in favor tif the State. The amount of those emittiont, however, bich have been handed over by the Rank nd burnt and destroyed, acrording to frohi November, 1 823, to November, four thousand, two hundred and forty four dollars, twenty three end an half cents. the whole of which were placed on file in the Treasury Office. The Public Treasurer hat rendered to the Board of Internal Improvements, an account of hia Krttifiti and Krienditure from the first of November, 1823, to the first of 'November, 1824. compiehending the sums abovementioned, together with all other money received br him which the new Tremurv Note ( and not Oetng abl to forsee its limit, bo could but heti aJ doubt of the expediency of any measure which should go directly and considerably to lessen tbo ability of the Treasury, at lb present moment ( ot during the continuance of the present state of things, in regard to the Treasury Notes formerly issued. It is hoped and expected however, tbat the prevalent dis position abovementioned will gradually decline,, that the holders of the old Botes may become more disposed to keep and use them, and that in the course of a lew months, or be lure it be very long, a part J.
