The names of sue h gentlemen at the head of this Society or- iir will be sufficient to satisfy most per sons as to the respAttsibilitjr of the Society and thfefiod character of the exhibition. Entries for .he Nest Fair are pouring into the Secretary's Office every day. The largest number of entries yet made by one i iid i vidnal has been by Mr. James Norwood of Hiil.-boro. They are doing their full dnty, and their efforts promise to be rewarded by one of the most successful exhibitions ever held in this State. . i , f Evevy body will of course go to the State Fair that possible can ; and every ooay mat has any-otate pride or teels any A Rich Mine. The newly disenv ered Gold Mine of Messrs. Roark dc Crowell has proved to be very rich. Thus far they have only been able to jropect ami test its value ; bat 'they are making arrangements to put up new engines and introduce Improved machinery for gettiug out the precious metal. From alt aceonuts it is the richest mine discovered in this section for a lone time, and there have been many valuable ones found. It Is too Bad.-A young man said the other day: It is too bad, whenever I say any ihltig toward the piitit, she always tays something abiut "the lovely night," or asks me to "point out the 7 stars," or ufind the dipper," as if I were a regular astronomer. If not that she will tell me ; ''that is too thin" and so on Now, what am I to do? This is a terrible fix to be in ; for I mean business. Why she bad the impeitiuatice, while I was telling her in the most tender language, of my love, to say ; "the comet disappeared very suddenly." 1 shall become desperate if things don't change soon. Old John Robinsons. This veteran manager will give two-grand exhibition in our city October 8th. We clip the following from one of our exchanges ; "A vast and appreciating audience again filled the mammoth pavilion, last evening. The show is undoubtedly one of the best ever wituessed in this city. It is impossible to give an elaborate description of the mani fold attractions of this establishment, but it is proper to say here, that the exhibition is the very best that has ever beeu offered to the people of this vicinity. Outside the at tractions of the circus performance, is a meuagerje in which very rare animals are presented to public view, and in the same department are a nambe r of curiosities, col lected at a great expeuse.
