grafts, very prosperous tor a few years, did
not prove permanent 80 the remedy against
the borer is yet to be discovered. I ardently
hope that the gentlemen whom your article
mentions as cultivating the grape sncoiTu
fully and whom I now caution tobe on their
guard against the borer, may fad out, when
unfortunately the enemy gets a foothold rn
their vineyards, the much needed remedy
which I have, so far. failed to discover.
The Scoppernonxr. white or black, is the
oniy grape we can rely on for extensive wine
making in over one half of our State. It is
