These two amendments are probably of more real importance, and will doubtless in the end prove to be of more practical benefit to the people, than any of the others. Only one amendment was proposed to "ARTICLE XIV. MISCELLANEOUS. A now section is added to tlqa artiple, in these words : I TSec. 8. All marriages between a white pbrson and a negro, or lietween a white per son and a person qi negro poseent to tne third generation inclusive, are hereby for ever prohibited. This section needs no explanation it eaks fof itself. It is a blow at so-called eivil-riirlits" and "social equality. it is exceedingly appropriate that such an amendment soutp be me lau. it is an index to tie whole number, and no better pno cpuld have been suggested to complete the; list. The men who arc inclined to vote against the Constitutional amendments whatever tney may pretend to the con trary will certainly bo classed with those who favor the abominable provisions of the Infamous "Civil Rights Bill." This is a free country, and every one has a right to vote as he thinks proper upon any subject before the people, but he who is really opposed to negro equality, and to inter-marriage of irhites ami black, ought to pause and seri ously consider, before he casts his vote for tne rejection of the proposed amendments.
