Especially does it delight us to announce that this happy consummation has been brought about bv the untiring efforts of the distinguished gentleman whose name heads this article. It will be remembered by our readers that the Democratic Cou vention of the 7th Congressional District failed to renominate Major Robbins for Congress and chose Colonel Ann field in his stead. Major Robbins however, and deservedly so. had many and warm friends aud they were much disappointed, and at times it has seemed as if some of them were on the point of sacrificing their alle giance to their party, t their devotion to their friend. Indeed a movement was on foot to call another convention at Mocks ville and put out a candidate against Col onel Armfield, the nominee of the regular convention held at Wilkesboro. This movement we are now assured is entirely abandoned and harmony ouee more pre vails in our ranks, aud mainly througl the persistent advice and streuuous efforts of Major Robbins himself.
