Taking up ashes in a wooden box
and setting the box under the house,
or against a fence or wooden wall, is
one of the surest ways of accidentaily
starting a big fire. Dr. Hume, of Chapel
Hill, lost his kitchen and dwelling on:
Chris taTfis, in this way. The dwelling
was a landmark in 4;he town, having
been the residence of distinguished
personal resident there for 75 years

Christmas at Sfcatesvilile, was not so
fort an. i to: it begun well enough, but
wound up in a row, some cracked heads
and a fire. In the latter, L. Sharpe
and Gapt. Winslow were the losers,
one of buildings and the other of a
quantity of tobacco, but covered b- in
surance. The citizens of Cleveland 0. did the
right thing on Chrstmas--they caused
to be distr ibuted to the poor of the city
2,600 baskete, each containing a turkey,
a peck of potatoes, half a pound of
butter and a two pound loaf of bread,
with a Christmas card attached to each
basket with directions for cooking.

I have nsed the Victor Kellers patent
Grain Drill for, several years and I consider
it a perfect machine. One can set it in an
instant, to sow aitv quantity of wheat or
oats per acre, from one peck to four bush
els. It sows hearded oats as well as it does
wheat or clover seed and fort izcrs to per

its other good

Last Spring I borrowed Mr. White
Fraley'a Victor (Kellers patent) Grain
Drill and put in my oats with it. It sowed
bearded and non-bearded oats to perfection.
I believe it to be the beat Grain Drill I
ever saw. It sows wheat or oats and clover
seed and fertilizer all O. K.,andl have
bought one for this fall's seeding of, the
Agent, John A. Boyden.

I have ued the Victor Kellers patent
Grain I);ill for the past ten years and con
sider it by .far the best Drill made. I have
also used the Bechford'& Huffman Drill,
but greatly prefer the Victor, because it is
much the most conveuiuut; and I believe
one Victor will last as long as two Beck

all kinds of grain satisfactorily.
