Every ferry boat should have a dr p gate at each end fastened with hinges at the bottom so that it can drop down in the boat and let the vehicles' run over it; then it can be rai-ed about as easy as to pic!i up a stick. If" it is made about, two feet high 'and fastened by two short chains like braces so it can go far enough back to secure its slamlihg, it would be impossible to back a vehicle out of the boat, and wobld le but little trouble to the ferry in an. I do not consider a ferry boat safe without something like this.
