Dl Brown, superintendent of of the county home, tendered his resignation to take effect at once. He made a proposition that if re tained, he be allowed a salary of $25 monthly with work at present and without care of the farm. Resignation accepted. R. A. Safrit submitted an oral proposition to take charge of the home and to board inmates at $10 per head, monthly. Mrs. C. Patterson made a prop osition in person to take charge of the home for $8 monthly, sh to work the farm and get proceeds from the same. She also made another offer to put in all the time of herself aod husband, to work the farm and donate the proceeds to the county, receiving theiefore, $15 with board for her family of wife, husband and two children, aged 6 and 9 years. Ac cepted with understanding that she take charge at once and the term to continue at the option of the board. Mr, Brown thanked the com missioners for coutesies extended si and recommended the purchase of a spring wagon, a 'phone and the burning off of lands to improve pasture. The following resolution was unanimouslv adopted: .Whereag.T. After the regular serni-monthly i meeting of the Daughters of Lib erty Friday night, when a num ber of new members were initiat ed, a public gathering and ban qtiet was held in the Rowau Rifles' armory.. The Daughters, accom panied by a number of visiting "members from Concord, Lexing ton and other points formed in line and marched to the banquet hall in a body. The CheBtnut Hill band furnished music, a number of speeches, were made, Hon. Theo. F. Kluttz and Lee S. Overman being among the orators, and refreshments were served by the ladies. This was a very en joyable affair and- reflects much credit on the Daughters. . A New Master Mechanic. Things seem to be somewhat on the change at Spencer.
