After a few brief remarks 0f welcome. Rev, W. H Huggin, of Lexington, responded, and T. L. Moore, district deputy, of the same .place, stated the objects of the meeting. This time it is to be assistant rector of St. Phillip's church at Durham. W. A. Fcgleman was called to Liberty, N. C , yesterday owing to the serious illness of his father. -Mr. Fogleman is now 72 years old and has been suffering from sciatic-rheumatism. Rev. Walter Li ngle, a native of this county, now located at Rock Hill, S. C, has received a call from the First Presbyterian church of HouBton, Texas. He has the matter under consideration. Refreshments were served to all. Resolutions thanking Cordon lodge f r the hospitality and en tertainment extended and pleas ure and profit given were passed by the visitors. By unauimous vote, R, M. Leonard, of Cordon. Lodge, was recommended to the Grand Mas ter for appointment as district d3puty, bo succsed T. L. Moore whose term will -soon expire and who'does not wish to serve'longor. The meeting as a whole was a love feast throughout and will not soon be forgotten by those who were present. Whitlcck. Rev. L. A. Whit lock, father of G. W, Whitlock, of this city, and W. E. Whitlock, of Forest Hill, Concord, died at Porters, Stanly county, last Wed nesday evening. WiNEooFF, J. M Winecoff, of China Grove, father of A. W. Winecoff, of this city, died Mon day mdrniug. Mr. Winecoff was in his 76th year and was injured some time ago by a door falling on him and never recovered from the effects of his injuries. Mr. Winecoff was a man of splendid character and will be greatly missed. The funeral was held yesterday. The Farmers Meeting Saturday. The farmers meeting here Sat urday, held for the purpose of discussing the cotton situation was very poorly attended. It deserved much better treatment whether the farmers were going to reduce the cotton acreage or not, there was much to learn and as this i9 a day o. progress and intelligent application of ail things those who did did not attend a-re the worse off bv such .failure. Col. Harvey Jordan, of the Souihe.n Cotton Association. Col. John S Cunningham, and E. D. Smith, president of the South Carolina Cotton Association, made talks and gave many good reasons why the farmer? should organize and pull together on the cotton sub ject. ADMINISTRATOR'S NOTICE. One of the most interesting weddings that has taken place in Salisbury for a number of years, is that of Miss Jennie. Mitchell Rankin and Johii Stoddard, of Savanuah, Ga. The engagement which was announced some time ago culminates Thurs day evening, April 27th, when the marriage ceremony will be per formed at the residence' of the bride. Inq ram-Newbom. The marri age of Miss Jessie Ingram, of Randolph, and Tobias Newsom, of Rowan, took place last Wednes day. Mr. Newsom is a son of A. H. Newsom who gave the couple a splendid dinner, Gaither-uffy. Miss Elsie H. Gaither, daughter of Mr, and Mrs. N. J. Gaither, of Cool Springs, Iredell countv, and' H. Peyton Guffy, of Cabarrus, were married in Salisbury yesterday eveniug.
