Fartner is the young man who, while telling of his ministerial calling to a recruting officer, was advised to enlist in the navy to study the conditions which might aid him in his work when he en tered the army of gospel workers. Fortner enlisted, but says he did .not fiud the navy suitable- to a young man of his morals, and he , deserted. .
