Calvin Earnhardt has some thing of a curiosity in the shape of a wheat head. It is a double head, having two heads grown out of the same stalk. Mr. Earnhardt ale 3 found a raddish in his garden which measured 14$ inches long and 6 inches in circumference. Now, if there is any one that can beat that trot cut your raddish. . Gold Knob base ball team crossed bats with Craven last Sat urday afternoon at Garfield and the score was 10 to 7 in favor of Craven. There will be a Sunday school picnic at St. Peter's church on Saturday, August 31st. Every body is cordially invited. Re freshments will be served on the ground free to the St. Peter's Sunday school. Bring a - full basket. The young ladies Guild society will give a box supper that evening, the proceeds to go to for eign missions. On the first Sunday in Septem ber the W. H. and F. The liter ary societies are very good as past records prove. This is one of the essential parts of a good Bchool. They are controlled alone by the pupils. The members of the Kappa Alpha Debating Society have chal lenged the St. Marions for a de bate at Rowan Academy on Satur day night, Aug. 24th, at 8 p. m. The challenged has been accepted.
