Fraley killed a fine hog a few days ago which weighed 880 pounds. We heard some boys say they went hunting down on the Yad kin river and killed 55 rabbits i and 9 biras in about 5 hours. That's pretty good. Jos. W. Miller is doing a great deal of sawing along now with his little pony mill, also a lot of shingle sawing, Christmas will soon be here, so lookout for Santa Glaus little ones. C, Jonas Shepard has moved to Granite Quarry where he can work in J. W. Frick & Sons sash, door and blind factory. Lingle has been confined to his bed for several days sick, but is getting better. Our settlement will furnish some old time fiddlers at the fid dler's convention when it comes off in Salisbury. Rev. C. P. Fisher preached the annual Thanksgiving sermon at the Reformed 'church, November 28th, by invitation. He had a large congregation and was as sisted by Rev. C. B. Rowe preached an excellent sermon at St. Luke's Sunday, November, 1 24th, to the girls. We all ought to take the good-advice .given in this sermon. He will preach again Sunday 8th, to the boys. One Sunday he looses the tires off his bicycle, the next Sunday he takes the buggy and horse, starts to preaching with a girl, when he gets about half way he comes to a bad road. The girl fell out. He must have been a Republican too, for if he had been a Democrat he would have not thrown her out. The poor girl was bruised up so badly that she could hardly attend school next day.
