Postmaster Ramsay has had a
railing put up at the carrier's
window in the east end of the
postoffice. This is a good move.
In the past there has always been
a jam at the window while the
carriers were delivering Sunday
mail and now those who go there
for mail will have to line up and
come one at a time.
the Same Old Story,
Those who expected the new de
pot to be opened to the public last
Monday were doomed to disap
pointment. For good reasons to
the railroad oompany the event
has been postponed to somewhere
between August 20th and Septem
ber 1st. There is some work to be
done yet, cleaning it, putting the
ground in order, etc., and besides
this it now seems to be the plan
to have some sort of celebration
at the opening. So we will- wait
and see.

Train Crews Gut Otf.
Within the past ten days or so
the Southern has let out'quite a
number of train crews and this
has given rise to all sortB of ru
mors about another heavy reduo
tion of the whole force. None
outside of the officials of the road
are in a position to state just what
the company's intention is along
this line. Ail talk on thesubjeo
is mere guess work. But as far
as the reduction of train crews is
concerned most everyone knows
that during the rush of the fruit
and mellon season a much larger
tram force is needed than usual
When the rush is over and the
trains are raken off there is no
farther need fox the men.
